Dr Jens Kreuter has been the Managing Director of Engagement Global gGmbH for over ten years. The organisation is commissioned by the German Federal Government and funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. It promotes civic engagement in the field of development policy commitment in Germany, supporting initiatives such as international voluntary services, short-term youth exchanges, and professional exchange programmes.
After gaining diverse international experience, Jens Kreuter went on to study theology and law. Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to promoting voluntary engagement. He previously served as the Federal Commissioner for the Alternative Civilian Service and later played a key role in developing various models of volunteer services within Germany. Since taking on the position as Managing Director of Engagement Global, his focus has shifted to facilitating international partnerships for Sustainable Development through the various programmes the organisation offers.
Dr. Kreuter will be speaking on Day 1 of the IVCO 2025 conference, in the breakout session on ” Action at Home – How international volunteering can boost civic participation post-placement ”
