Action at Home – How international volunteering can boost civic participation post-placement

September 15, 2025

Volunteering can be a powerful catalyst for ongoing civic engagement, equipping people with the skills, networks, and motivation to take meaningful action in their communities. Beyond the immediate impact of a volunteer placement, volunteering can inspire participants to become long-term changemakers.

In this session, we will explore how organisations can encourage post-placement civic participation, leveraging the momentum of impactful volunteer experiences by providing resources and opportunities for continued engagement. Participants will gain insights into strategies such as mentorship, alumni networks, advocacy training, and post-volunteering pathways that enable volunteers to transition into a lifetime of active citizenship.

Different different modalities of breakout sessions have been designed to amplify diverse voices and promote opportunities for delegates to share their experiences in engaging ways during IVCO 2025.
