Volunteers worldwide are facing increasing barriers that prevent them from accessing their roles. One of the most pressing challenges is restrictions on visas and work permits for international volunteers. As immigration policies tighten and bureaucratic hurdles grow, organisations must find new ways to ensure volunteers can contribute effectively to their work. 

This session will provide a space for organisations to share experiences and strategies for overcoming these challenges. Focusing first on visa and work permit issues, the discussion will broaden to explore other systemic barriers limiting volunteer participation. Participants will exchange practical solutions, advocacy efforts, and innovative approaches that help volunteers navigate these obstacles and continue making an impact. 

Different modalities of breakout sessions have been designed to amplify diverse voices and promote opportunities for delegates to share their experiences in engaging ways during IVCO 2025.
