Juan is an economist and holds a PhD in management and statistics. Juan is a person whose life was changed by volunteering 20 years ago. From that moment he has dedicated his life to learn more about it, to promote it from every single angle and to make volunteering a vital project, from a personal as well as professional perspective.
Over the last 20 years he has been working in different positions, either in the social and public sector. In 2013, he founded Volies, a Spanish and Colombian organization that has promoted volunteering in several areas:
• supporting the main European & Latin-American companies in the volunteers programs
• designing methodologies to identify and certificate the skills that Volunteers develop in their assignments, and designing specific volunteering programs to foster and focus this impact on specific skills
Juan is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Forum and Volonteurope
In Latin-America, he has conducted research, conferences, and has travelled the continent getting to know the different social realities and different volunteerism models.
Juan has promoted the main think tank on volunteering in Latin America, Voluntare. an initiative with more than 130 members in which NGOs & Companies collaborate to promote corporate volunteering. He is speaking on Day 1 of IVCO 2025 on the topic “Mobilizing Business for Civil Society: The Power of Corporate Volunteering”
