Nichole Cirillo

Executive Director - International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE)

Nichole has served as the Executive Director of the International Association for Volunteer Effort (IAVE) since October 2019. She brings substantial executive experience from the environmental and social justice sectors, where she has successfully engaged a vast network of global volunteers. In her previous role as International Director of Learning at Earthwatch, Nichole led a citizen-science volunteering programme focused on freshwater initiatives across 36 cities worldwide. She also developed and managed a sustainability leadership programme that fostered climate leadership connections across five continents. With extensive expertise in leadership, management, fundraising, and communications, Nichole has worked with diverse teams of staff and volunteers globally, honing her skills in various challenging environments. Throughout her life, she has been deeply committed to volunteering, which has shaped her understanding of community engagement and social impact. Nichole holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Rutgers University and a Master of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy from Tufts University. Her academic background and professional experience equip her to tackle pressing global challenges while promoting volunteerism and community development. Under her leadership, IAVE continues to advance the vital role of volunteers in creating positive change worldwide. Nichole will be presenting on “The Impacts of Volunteering in a Divided World” in a Strategy Conversation during the IVCO 2024 Conference.
