William Bougaire

Volunteer Cooperation Programme Director - Oxfam Québec

William Bougaire has a rich background in cooperation and development, building a career dedicated to humanitarian causes. He has held notable positions with organisations such as the United Nations for Migration and the British Red Cross, where he honed his expertise in international development. Currently, he leads the Canadian government’s Volunteer Programme at Oxfam Québec, where he oversees a dynamic team operating in over 12 countries. Under his guidance, the programme has successfully facilitated the deployment of more than 700 Canadian volunteers over eight years, focusing on strengthening the capacities of organisations that advocate for social causes in developing nations. Notable areas of focus for the programme include women’s rights and the rights of people with disabilities. William’s passion for social justice and commitment to effective volunteerism have made a significant impact on the communities served by Oxfam Québec. Through his leadership and strategic vision, he continues to promote meaningful change and foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders in the pursuit of a more equitable world. William and Amy Nagus will be presenting on “Resilience and innovation in feminist volunteering in times of crises” in a Pecha-Kucha session during the IVCO Conference.
