Hattaya Wongsaengpaiboon

Volunteering for Development Global Leadership, Technical Lead - VSO

Hattaya or Und joined VSO in 2008, inspired by a conversation with a friend who worked with the organisation. Initially involved in a programme on the Thailand/Myanmar border, she dedicated six years to this effort until VSO established its operations in Yangon in 2013. During her tenure, Hattaya collaborated with numerous international and national volunteers, which spurred her to initiate volunteering for development programmes in Thailand in 2014. Her aim has been to enhance the volunteering landscape in the country, and her initiatives have successfully trained hundreds of development workers and practitioners in volunteer management systems and development-focused volunteering. Currently, Hattaya serves as the Global Leadership Technical Lead for Volunteering for Development at VSO, supporting 18 countries within the organisation’s portfolio. In addition to her role at VSO, she is a guest lecturer on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Volunteering for Development at Thammasat University. Hattaya’s commitment to fostering a collaborative environment for development through volunteering continues to impact communities both locally and globally. Und will be presenting on “Transforming conflict actors as active agents of peace and community development through volunteerism” in a Human Library Session during the IVCO 2024 Conference.
