Fabian Heerbaart works for the Weltwärts coordination unit at Engagement Global in Bonn, Germany.
Weltwärts is a development volunteer service aimed at young people from a country in Asia, Africa, Latin America, Oceania or Eastern Europe who would like to volunteer in Germany (South-North component). Young persons from Germany can also volunteer for at least 6 months (up to 24 months) in a country of the listed regions (North-South component).
Fabian is a former volunteer himself and is responsible for committee work of the Weltwärts volunteer service, which is a joint operation that is shaped, implemented and enhanced jointly by the various actors involved – such as government and civil society representatives and former volunteers. He also leads the creative and technical production of the Weltwärts podcast, where current and former volunteers share their stories, challenges as well as the lasting impact of their international engagement.
Fabian will be speaking on Day 1 of the IVCO 2025 conference, in the breakout session on ” Action at Home – How international volunteering can boost civic participation post-placement “
