Christina has been working with the Association for International and Intercultural Exchange (VIA e.V.) in Berlin since 2007. She is deeply passionate about people and the ways they relate to one another. Fostering these relationships in an open, authentic, supportive, and compassionate manner—and helping others do the same—has been the guiding thread throughout her career.
She began as VIA e.V.’s pedagogical director and, since 2011, has served as CEO, overseeing a team of 25 employees and coordinating up to 500 volunteers each year, both incoming and outgoing. Through her work, she has witnessed firsthand how voluntary service can be a transformative experience for young adults, often leaving a lasting impact on their lives.
Christina is no stranger to challenges and crises, and from both her professional and personal experience, she understands that such moments—when supported with care and attention—can become powerful opportunities for growth and learning.
She was actively involved for several years with the Quifd quality centre and currently serves on the board of the umbrella organisation AKLHÜ.
Despite—or perhaps because of—her demanding work, Christina values the importance of taking meaningful breaks. In those moments, she finds renewal in nature and with her horse.
Christina will be speaking on Day 1 of the IVCO 2025 conference, in the breakout session on “How volunteering strengthens skills, capacity and resilience of volunteers”
