Tariku, a project manager (MA) and education expert, has over ten years of profound experience in humanitarian and development work. As a leader in the volunteering-for-development sector, he has engaged in promoting volunteerism, research, capacity building, and policy advocacy through Serve Global, a foreign NGO dedicated to volunteerism for development. With extensive international, national, and regional exposure, Tariku has developed a deep understanding of volunteerism’s role in community development, peace, youth empowerment, and climate action.
Tariku has initiated multiple volunteering programs focused on youth empowerment, skill-building, climate action, and more. As a leader, he possesses strong project design and management skills, effective communication abilities, and a strategic approach to fostering meaningful volunteering in Ethiopia and beyond.
A dedicated advocate for volunteerism and youth empowerment, Tariku has practical experience in creating opportunities for thousands of young people to participate in structured, impactful volunteering programs while striving to advocating in integrating volunteerism into the education system. Tariku will be speaking on Day 1, in the breakout session on “Volunteering as a pathway to active participation in Civil Society.”
