Chief Voluntary Advisory Services Section - United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme

Dr Tapiwa Kamuruko is the Chief of the Voluntary Advisory Services Section at the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, based at its Headquarters in Bonn, Germany. Prior to this role, he held several key positions within UNV, including Policy Specialist and Team Lead on Evidence and Knowledge Brokering, and Regional Manager for East and Southern Africa, based in Nairobi, Kenya. Kamuruko is instrumental in the creation and dissemination of key knowledge products at UNV, notably leading the preparation of the State of the World’s Volunteerism Report. He works with diverse partners to ensure that volunteerism is effectively integrated into both global and regional development frameworks. In 2022, he led a significant collaboration between UNV and the International Labour Organisation (ILO), producing a paper on Youth Volunteering focused on enhancing employability skills and facilitating entry into the job market. Tapiwa and Vera Chrobok will be presenting on the How-to Workshop “Exploring the challenges and opportunities of volunteer measurement: the State of the World Volunteerism Report (SWVR) and the Volunteer Index” during the IVCO Conference.
