Cynthia Gukuta is a dedicated and passionate volunteer peacebuilding specialist with extensive first-hand experience in conflict-affected countries. With over 5 years of direct peacebuilding experience, she has honed her skills in dialogue facilitation and community engagement, working to promote understanding and reconciliation between diverse groups. As well as being a practitioner, Cynthia is a strategic thinker and problem solver with over 25 years’ experience in programme management. Her expertise spans the design, monitoring and evaluation of humanitarian and development programmes, ensuring that initiatives are effective and responsive to the needs of the communities they serve. Her work reflects a deep commitment to sustainable change, empowering communities to work together to resolve conflict and build the foundations for long-term peace and stability. Cynthia believes in the transformative power of collective efforts to create harmonious relationships between individuals and groups. Through her tireless efforts in peacebuilding, she aims to contribute to a world where communities can live together peacefully, paving the way for a better future for all. Her passion and dedication continue to inspire those around her and foster a culture of peace in the areas she serves. Cynthia will be presenting on “International Voluntary Service: Another Form of Lip Service?” in a Strategy Conversation Session during the IVCO 2024 Conference.
