Erastus Mong’are, HSC, is a Senior Advisor for National Service at the Office of Strategic Partnerships and Intergovernmental Affairs at Peace Corps. His extensive career includes significant roles within the State of Delaware government, notably as the Social Service Senior Administrator at the Department of Health and Social Services. In addition, he served as the Senior Administrator for the State Office of Volunteerism and as Executive Director for the Governor’s Commission for Community and Volunteer Service.
An alumnus of AmeriCorps through Public Allies, Delaware, Erastus has demonstrated a strong commitment to service. He founded and currently serves as Executive Director of StartUpAfrica, an initiative aimed at empowering youth by developing business skills and fostering financial independence, ultimately contributing to job creation and economic growth across Africa. Through this work, he mobilises volunteers and resources to support various development projects and entrepreneurship initiatives.
Erastus has been honoured with numerous accolades, including Kenya’s Presidential Head of State Commendation (HSC), Delaware’s Governor’s Proclamation, the Public Allies Delaware Changemaker award, the Distinguished Toastmasters Award, and he is a two-time finalist for the Philadelphia Eagles Community Quarterback Award, reflecting his impactful contributions to community service and development. Erastus will be presenting on “How to boldly create sustainable partnerships in volunteerism” in a Strategy Conversation Session during the IVCO 2024 Conference.
