Ratherford Mwaruta

National Coordinator - Zimbabwe Workcamps Association

Ratherford Mwaruta is a Community-Driven Systems Change Practitioner, dedicated to promoting community development and fostering international understanding through voluntary services. With over 25 years of hands-on experience, he has worked extensively in grassroots programmes at both national and international levels, notably with the Zimbabwe Workcamps Association (ZWA) and the Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Services (CCIVS), as well as the Southern Africa Workcamps Cooperation (SAWC). Mwaruta’s career has been marked by his commitment to empowering communities and facilitating meaningful change through volunteerism. He has been instrumental in various initiatives that harness the potential of volunteers to address local challenges and promote sustainable development. Currently, he is focused on the operationalisation of the Pan Africa Volunteer platform, known as the Network of African Voluntary Organisations (NAVO), which aims to strengthen collaboration among voluntary organisations across the continent. His extensive experience and passion for community-driven change have made him a key figure in the voluntary sector, continually advocating for the importance of community engagement and international cooperation in addressing complex social issues.
