Yann Delaunay is the Executive Director of France Volontaires, an organisation dedicated to international exchange and solidarity volunteering. Born in 1978 in Saint-Denis de la Réunion, he pursued his studies in Law at the University of Aix-Marseille. In 2002, Yann commenced his career at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, initially serving in the Financial Affairs Department. There, he managed the ministerial cabinets’ intervention credits and contributed to the Analysis and Forecasting Centre. From 2006 to 2009, Yann led the French Consulate in Copenhagen. He subsequently moved to the French Embassy in Berlin, where he worked within the Embassy’s General Secretariat. Upon returning to France in 2013, he held key roles, starting as Deputy Chief of Staff and later Chief of Staff to the Secretary of State for European Affairs. He continued in similar capacities for the Minister of Foreign Affairs until 2017. Following this tenure, Yann was appointed General Secretary of Atout France, the governmental agency focused on promoting tourism in France. In 2021, he took on the role of Executive Director of France Volontaires, bringing extensive experience in international relations and public service to the position. Yann will be presenting on “Volunteering for solidarity, an essential lever for meaningful, effective and partenarial action in times of crises” in a Strategy Conversation Session during the IVCO 2024 Conference.
