Hsuanmin Angela Wang serves as the Deputy Director of the Research and Development Department at the Waker Welfare Action Association. In this pivotal role, she is dedicated to establishing and enhancing Waker’s knowledge system through a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Her expertise encompasses a range of techniques, including pre- and post-tests, surveys, field research, and active participation in volunteer programmes. Angela plays a crucial role in evaluating the effectiveness of Waker’s training and service initiatives, ensuring that these programmes meet their intended objectives. In addition to her evaluative duties, Angela is instrumental in facilitating knowledge transfer within the organisation. She collaborates closely with her colleagues to author annual reports, showcasing the organisation’s local impact and achievements. Angela’s holistic approach to research and assessment not only bolsters Waker’s ability to make informed, data-driven decisions but also ensures that these decisions align with the organisation’s core values. Through her commitment to maximising the effectiveness of Waker’s programmes, Angela significantly contributes to the organisation’s mission of promoting welfare and making a positive difference in the community. Her work ultimately strengthens Waker’s capacity to deliver meaningful and impactful services to those it aims to help. Angela Wang and Pie Hong will discuss “Eastern Insights for Cross-Cultural Volunteer Engagement and Crisis Response” in a Strategy Conversation during IVCO 2024. They will also present on “Cross-Border Accountability through Volunteer Service: Transitions in Volunteer and Donor Identities” in a Human Library Session at the conference.
