This workshop will explore two complementary approaches to strengthening the sustainability and impact of international volunteering. Participants will learn how support for innovation, combined with capacity strengthening and a co-construction approach with partners, can enable the development of new initiatives, increase impact and generate new partnerships.

The session will also examine the challenges of securing sustainable funding for international volunteering. It will highlight the often hidden costs of responsible volunteering — including volunteer preparation, coordination, safeguarding, monitoring and long-term partnerships — and explore how different forms of support, including public donations and volunteer engagement, can contribute to sustainably funding this essential infrastructure.

Cet atelier explorera deux approches complémentaires visant à renforcer la durabilité et l’impact du volontariat international. Les participants découvriront comment le soutien à l’innovation, associé au renforcement des capacités et à une approche de co-construction avec les partenaires, peut permettre de développer de nouvelles initiatives, d’accroître leur impact et de générer de nouveaux partenariats.

La session examinera également les défis liés au financement durable du volontariat international. Elle mettra en lumière les coûts souvent invisibles d’un volontariat responsable — notamment la préparation des volontaires, la coordination, la protection, le suivi et les partenariats à long terme — et explorera comment différentes formes de soutien, notamment les dons du public et l’engagement des volontaires, peuvent contribuer à financer durablement cette infrastructure essentielle.
