People come to volunteering through many different routes, at different times in their lives, and for different reasons. This Human Library session will bring these journeys to life through stories from current and former volunteers, as well as organisations.

For organisations, this raises questions about how to design opportunities that reflect this diversity of motivations, experiences and life stages. It also poses challenges for engaging volunteers across generations, and promoting volunteering as a lifelong practice, whether with one organisation or many. 
In this session, participants will explore a wide range of volunteering experiences and pathways.  

As its name suggests, the Human Library will to bring these diverse volunteering opportunities to life, while anchoring them in individual life trajectories. Through testimonies from former and current volunteers, as well as the organisations that support them to volunteer, participants will explore the diversity of missions available at different stages of life . 

This Human Library will offer a unique opportunity to listen to and directly engage with what volunteering means today, across different moments of life.

Bibliothèque humaine : parcours d’engagement et diversité des expériences de volontariat 

Nombreux sont aujourd’hui les formats et dispositifs d’engagement. Les modalités diffèrent : mission courte ou mission longue, en France, en Europe ou à l’international. Les conditions d’accès et de financement sont également multiples, selon l’âge, le statut ou les compétences du volontaire. 

La bibliothèque humaine, comme son nom l’indique, a pour objectif de donner corps et vie à toutes ces possibilités de volontariat et, dans un même temps, ancrer ces expériences dans des trajectoires de vie singulières. Grâce aux témoignages d’anciens et d’actuels volontaires, ainsi que d’organisations, vous découvrirez la diversité des missions proposées selon les différentes périodes de la vie (jeunes, actifs, seniors, etc…), leurs modalités et la manière dont celles-ci sont vécues au quotidien. Les intervenants partageront ainsi l’impact que le volontariat a sur un parcours personnel et professionnel. 

Cette bibliothèque humaine permettra d’écouter et de questionner directement ce que recouvre aujourd’hui la réalité du volontariat à diffèrent moment de l’existence.  

 Enseignements clés : 

• Ancrer le volontariat dans des parcours d’engagement tout au long de vie (associatif, local, politique etc.),
• Montrer la richesse de la diversité des formes de volontariat,
• S’inspirer de témoignages de volontaires et d’organisations pour mieux comprendre les transformations durables (personnelles, professionnelles, citoyennes) induites par l’engagement, et renforcer leur reconnaissance et leur valorisation.
