Claire Degueil

Executive Director, Délégation Catholique pour la Coopération, France

Claire Degueil is an engineer by training with 20 years of experience in corporate human resources. She notably spent eight years as HR Director at a company specialising in responsible tourism. Her interest in intercultural encounters was particularly shaped by a sabbatical year in 2012–2013, when she served as an International Solidarity Volunteer in Algeria with DCC (Délégation Catholique pour la Coopération), contributing to youth employability initiatives in the suburbs of Algiers. Her connection with DCC and her commitment to international solidarity have remained strong ever since, leading her to take up the position of Executive Director of DCC in June 2025. This is an exciting time for the organisation, as raising awareness of international solidarity volunteering—and particularly of volunteering through non-profit organisations—is more crucial than ever. Claire is working to advance this mission alongside DCC’s staff and volunteers, while also contributing to broader efforts across the volunteering sector through various inter-association networks. She notably serves as Vice-President of CLONG-Volontariat and as Vice-President of France Volontaires, representing the non-profit sector on its Board.
