In challenging environments, volunteers face significant challenges in communication, advocacy, and safety. However, technology has become a crucial enabler, allowing volunteers to securely connect, share information, and continue their work despite barriers. Understanding and adopting these technologies can empower volunteers to work more effectively while protecting themselves, their colleagues and the people they serve. 

This session will explore practical strategies for VIOs to support volunteers in harnessing technology safely and effectively. Participants will discuss good practice for secure communication, data protection, online advocacy, and risk mitigation.  

Different modalities of breakout sessions have been designed to amplify diverse voices and promote opportunities for delegates to share their experiences in engaging ways during IVCO 2025.
